July 30th...Potato Harvest

Harvested some potatos today.  The potato harvest so far has been pretty meager.  My plants did very well at first.  They grew so tall that they feel over.  Then some of the plants went from green to yellowish/brownish.  I still have about 5 plants in the ground.  They are still green.

Some of these stalks are over six feet tall.

Ears are here!  I hope they get bigger.  When I planted corn two or three years ago, they never got much bigger than this.

Where potatos once grew.

Bronco loves eating these.

I'm going to store these potatos in a plastic five-gallon bucket in the basement.

July 23rd...Harvesting Zuchinni and Pulling Weeds

The Zuchinni plant has probably produced 12 zuchinni so far.

Making Zuchinni brownies!

Kathi and the kids helped pull a ton of weeds.  It went by sooo much faster.

July 14th...Water Barrels

I planted the taller plants about two weeks before the shorter ones.  The shorter plants mature in 62 days which means
they should be ready when family comes into town for Bayli's baptism on September 3rd.

I planted these Green Beans a little later in the season than I normally do.

Our friends, Keith and Michelle Lewis gave us these two 55-gallon barrels.  I may build something similar to what Keith did...see below.  It is set up to collect rainwater from the roof.  His main purpose is to have water for his lawn and garden.  I however, would just like to collect water for emergency purposes.  Not drinking water, but just for cleaning and washing.
